DANIJELA CORTAN

Hello Dance Lovers! My name is Danijela and I am originally from Europe. When I arrived in the US, I didn’t know anyone and didn’t speak any English. My life turned into work, sleep, repeat. Oh, what a wild way to spend your early 20s…However, every time I’d watch “So You Think You Can Dance” my desire to put on dance shoes got stronger. I loved the movement, the outfits and the connection dancers had with each other so, I did it! With barely a few words of English, I marched into the Fred Astaire studio and asked if I could do their Intro package. Honestly, I loved every second of it, even tho I barely could understand my instructor, but he showed me every move and every step so I just copied what he was doing. Sadly, it was so expensive that I just couldn’t afford it long term.

marianne Kelsey

Marianne began her dance journey in 2018, when she fell in love with bachata, and the rest is history!  She created Alegre Latin Dance out of a love for the Greensboro latin dance community and a desire to continue to create opportunities for people to learn, grow, and cultivate their dance skills in welcoming atmospheres.  She serves as a backup instructor in the event one of the area’s professional instructors is unavailable to teach at Alegre socials.  Her zone of comfort is in encouraging and mentoring fellow dancers, and providing constructive feedback in class and out on the dance floor!  Alegre Latin Dance is her passion project, but during the day, she has a busy career running a full-service paper conservation firm: Kelsey Conservation. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Southeast Regional Conservation Association, and recently redesigned their website, which includes a searchable member directory: SERCA
